Welcome! Hi I am Laura. I am a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist.
Having experienced anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, work related stress, family difficulties, loss, loneliness, shame, abuse and grief myself, I know and understand how overwhelming these things can feel. I know how they can affect your life. I also know and understand how daunting it can feel seeking support through counselling. You may have many questions right now; you may not be sure if counselling is for you or if you did have counselling, what you would say or how does it work. I still remember the anxiety I felt when I first reached out and asked for support.
Within counselling there are many modalities. You may have heard of some of them such as Person Centred/Humanistic or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Some counsellors practice in one modality or style of counselling. However, that can have its limitations. I am trained in Pluralistic therapy. If you have not heard of this before, Pluralistic counsellors like myself are trained in a variety of modalities. I am trained in Psychodynamic, Humanistic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. The benefit of being a Pluralistic counsellor is that I have more “tools” in my toolbox to help you work through whatever you need at the beginning of your journey and I can respond to your changing needs as therapy progresses. One size does not fit all and I can provide you with an approach that is as unique as you are
Whatever your reason is for seeking support, as a friendly and approachable person, I aim to provide you with a non-judgemental, empathetic and supportive space to fully explore your situation and to help you understand your thoughts and feelings so that together we can work through any difficulties you are experiencing.
